Description

A non-profit organization incorporated in 1968 to provide a non-political forum for discussion of issues between the United States and Japan and to promote greater cultural understanding between the people of both countries. The mission of the Japan-America Society of Houston, Inc. (JASH) is to provide programs which increase the knowledge and understanding of Japan by Americans, and to encourage communication between the Japanese and Americans.

Traditions

The Society operates on many levels; its frequent programs examine art and culture, business and current events. Its annual dinner and spring festival are principal social and cultural events appearing each year on the Houston calendar. Through lectures, seminars, festivals, exhibits and performances, specially targeted programs, and programs for students and teachers, the Japan-America Society of Houston, Inc. explores the
uniqueness of Japan for Americans and the uniqueness of America for the Japanese.

JASH offers Japanese Language classes throughout the year in Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.
