From Mongolia with Love
We may be getting interesting reports from Mongolia this summer. This is largely dependent on Peace Corps volunteers' access to email in Mongolia. This will be a great addition to the World Music section. Stay tuned for more information.
Additionally, let me know if you are aware of people travelling to interesting places in the world who would like to contribute to cultural-crossroads.com.

Polka Festival in Hallettsville
Don't forget the big event this weekend. In the liner notes for "Texas Bohemia", the German record label Trikont praises this event as a great venue to hear traditional and distinctive Texas Czech music in the U.S.
This year the event features The Shiner Hobo Band, Moravia Czech Heritage Singers and The Tony Janek Orchestra. The dates are March 27 and 28 in Hallettsville, Texas
Also, the Luis Jiminez exhibit, Working Class Heroes: Images from the Popular Culture, continues through March 28 at the Blaffer Gallery. Don't wait 'til the last minute.

Recent Adventures
A group of us returned from the thin air in the high mountains of Arizona last night. We hiked a few 4 - 6 mile canyon trails in light snow, visited a few archaeological parks, some heritage museums and many diners. I'll soon (in a week or two) post narratives about travelling and adventuring in the regions we visited, including:
Pancho Villa State Park
Paquime Ruins at Casas Grandes, Chih., Mexico
Cave Creek Canyon
Chiricahua Mountains
Chiricahua National Monument
Cochise Stronghold
Amerind Foundation
Besh-Ba-Gowah Archaeological Park
Kinishba Ruins
Mogollon Rim
Salt River Canyon
White River Apache Nation
Casa Malpais Archaeological Park
Escudilla Wilderness
Gila Mountains
Plains of San Augustin
Bosque del Apache
Valley of Fires
Lincoln State Monument
Fort Concho
We travel once a year to Chiricahua, the Islands in the Sky, so it is high on my list of recommendations. We will make a return trip to see the Raven Site and others within the year. From my experiences on this latest trip, I also recommend, and will post contact information on these parks and museums:
Amerind Foundation in Dragoon, Arizona
(an extensive collection of Native American artifacts from the region, as well as from South and North America)
Besh-Ba-Gowah Archaeological Park in Globe, Arizona
(a prehistoric Salado site with a strange tunnel-like entry into a central courtyard of the pueblo)
Casa Malpais Archaeological Park in Springerville, Arizona
(a prehistoric tiered pueblo with unusual cave burials, off limits to the public, and a circular observatory)
You can find information at these upcoming pages:

A Few Good Recipes
We need recipes for a recent addition to our web. We hope to have enough good regional and international recipes to create sections for appetizers, entrees, desserts, and more.
A couple of good recipes are already posted at:
